Capt. Derek Derkacs completes a flight on a UH-60 Blackhawk during the Idaho Army National Guard’s annual training this year. Derkacs is one of four aeromedical physician assistants in the Idaho Guard responsible for providing medical care to pilots and flight crew. As an aeromedical physician assistant, he must also fly a minimum of 12 hours every six months to stay certified.
