171014-N-AY374-152 SAN SALVADOR, Puerto Rico (Oct. 14, 2017) A member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Special Response Team and two local children watch as other team members and local volunteers unload drinking water from an MH-60S Sea Hawk from the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) for distribution to the citizens of San Salvador, Puerto Rico. Kearsarge is assisting with relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. The Department of Defense is supporting the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Maria to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
