CEIBA, Puerto Rico (Oct. 14, 2017) Aviation Structural Mechanic 3rd Class Aleigha Patterson hands Naval Aircrewman (Helicopter) 1st Class Nathan Furry boxes of food to load onto an MH-60S Sea Hawk from the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) for distribution to the citizens of San Salvador, Puerto Rico. Kearsarge is assisting with relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. The Department of Defense is supporting the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Maria to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
