Members of Company G, 3rd Battalion, 126th Aviation Regiment, Maine Army National Guard, spent the last two weeks taking part in Northern Strike, a National Guard Bureau-sponsored exercise uniting about 5,000 servicemembers from 13 states and five coalition countries at Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center in northern Michigan. This time, the Soldiers from Company G played a different role than they typically do in training, giving some of the newer members of a team a chance to test their skills in higher pressure situations. For these situations, one of the most important parts of their morning routine was for the incoming on-duty crew chiefs and pilots to check over the entire aircraft and start it up to check for any issues that would cause a delay in services rendered during a medevac mission.
