U.S. Navy Steelworker 2nd Class Austin Strope, assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 4, measures and marks rebar for cutting as part of K-span construction on Camp Shield, Okinawa, Oct. 30, 2017. NMCB 4 recently deployed to Okinawa as the forward deployed NMCB, ready to support Major Combat Operations, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief operations. They provide general engineering and civil support to Navy, Marine Corps and joint operational forces. Homeported out of Port Hueneme, Calif., NMCB 4 has 11 detached sites deployed throughout the United States and Western Pacific area of operations.
