Maj. Gen. Peter M. Vangjel (right), who serves as the Third Army deputy commanding general, speaks with retired 1st Lt. Jim Kirchner, a native of Douglasville, Ga., during a dinner honoring Wounded Warriors at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, April 25. The dinner was the first stop during Operation Proper Exit. Operation Proper Exit is sponsored by the United Services Organization allowing wounded Troops and Veterans to retrace the last steps they took before being injured. Kirchner, who served with the Mortar Platoon, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 108th Armor Regiment, 48th Brigade Combat Team, Georgia Army National Guard, suffered injuries in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005.
