Lance Cpl. Andrew C. Brooks was one of seven Marines with Combat Assault Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, to receive the Purple Heart for wounds received during recent Afghanistan deployments at an awards ceremony on Camp Schwab April 29. The Purple Heart was established Aug. 7, 1782.
