Alexander P. Macdonald sits in the cockpit of a North Dakota Air National Guard 178th Fighter Squadron F-94A aircraft sometime in the 1950s. The 178th FS flew the F-94 from 1954 through 1960. Macdonald became the 119th Fighter Group commander Feb. 28, 1968. He was promoted to brigadier general Dec. 14, 1981 and major general in June, 2983. He was appointed as the North Dakota adjutant general in August, 1984.
