171205-N-GR361-010 PACIFIC OCEAN (Dec. 5, 2017) Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class Paul Coombs signals an MH-60S Seahawk to take off the flight deck of the littoral combat ship USS Coronado (LCS 4) in preparation for the ship’s homecoming. The first Independence-variant littoral combat ship to deploy, Coronado will return to Naval Base San Diego after an 18-month maiden deployment. Coronado operated in Southeast Asia for 14 months and worked with 16 navies, participated in 11 exercises, made 10 strategic port visits and successfully fired a Harpoon surface-to-surface missile, striking a target beyond visual range.
