Thomas Barlow, a U.S. Navy doctor, performs an operation to remove a growth from an elderly man’s cheek aboard NAsH Soares de Meirelles near the remote town of Tapaua on the Amazon River in Brazil, December 4. Barlow is a member of a team of five U.S. Navy doctors who are engaging in a month-long humanitarian mission up the Amazon River.
