PACIFIC OCEAN (Dec. 21, 2017) - A member of the Columbia River Bar Pilots is hoisted into an Agusta AW109SP helicopter from the submarine tender USS Frank Cable (AS 40), after the ship completed its transit down the Columbia River following a scheduled dry-dock phase maintenance availability in Portland, Ore, Dec. 21. The ship will soon be conducting sea trials, which constitutes the final determination of a ship’s ability to rejoin the fleet as an operational unit to conduct maintenance and support of submarines and surface vessels deployed to the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
