A heavy equipment operator navigates the top of a levee along the banks of the Missouri River June 2. Contractors, Volunteers, and South Dakota National Guardsman have been working feverishly to construct levees to hold back flood waters near the Dakota Dunes Country Club as river levels continue to threaten homes and residents in the area. More than 1,000 soldiers and airmen from the South Dakota National Guard are now supporting flooding efforts along the Missouri River throughout South Dakota.
