With the big guns on the ground, Soldiers took turns digging in the frozen, rocky soil to create six-inch deep trenches for the weapons’ spades to dig into for stability. CH-47 Chinook helicopters delivered three 155mm howitzers and gun crews from Battery B, 2nd Battalion, 8th Field Artillery Regiment to the Yukon Training Area, Alaska, March 7, 2018. The live-fire exercise, Automatic Big Rig, was part of the first gun raid in three years for the 2nd Battalion, 8th Field Artillery Regiment, and was carried out in conjunction with helicopter support from the 1st Battalion, 52nd Aviation Regiment. The field artillery regiment is part of the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division. (Army photo/John Pennell)
