Two hydroelectric turbines at the Kajaki hydroelectric power plant. Each turbine turns at 300 rotations per minute, produces 16.5 megawatts of electricity and has 23,000 horsepower. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Afghanistan Engineer District-South and Afghan engineers recently completed installation of a primary switch center at the Kajaki dam to resolve electrical problems.
