PATROL BASE MEHRAJ, Helmand province, Afghanistan - Lance Cpl. Kyle Wilcox of Tampa Bay, Fla., scans the area through his rifle’s optics during a recent dismounted patrol. The squad automatic weapon gunner with Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, and the rest of the Marines in the unit have collectively conducted more than 600 hours of mounted and dismounted patrols since arriving in Afghanistan in February.
