FORWARD OPERATING BASE ZEEBRUGGE, Helmand province, Afghanistan —Lance Cpl. Leo Ostrolencki, a Grandview, Mo., native holds the end of the national ensign while a fellow Marine folds it for proper storage. Ostrolencki, who is a field artillery radar operator with Echo Battery, 2nd Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, spends his spare time completing correspondence courses and reading books from the Commandant’s Reading List to help him grow professionally and personally.
