Mannequins wait on a bench for their turn to be placed into the Guardian Response 18 scenario, at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, Indiana, April 23, 2018. Qualified soldiers are utilizing moulage techniques which produce realistic training because it offers wound. There are 80-100 mannequins in the incident area with approximately 200 live role-players that need to be sought out by the exercise participants. This is a 24/7 operation, keeping personnel on their toes between development, placement, triage, treatment, and return.
U.S. Army North executes the annual Vibrant Response consequence management exercise at the direction of U.S. Northern Command to confirm command and control elements of the nation’s CBRN response forces. U.S. Force Command’s linked exercise, Guardian Response, held at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, validates how the subordinate units train to carry out the operations under the direction of a joint task force.
