OBSERVATION POST 22, Helmand province, Afghanistan -- Lance Cpl. Cody Milton, a member of 3rd Platoon, Company L, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, prepares SPAM for breakfast in the early morning hours July 21 at Observation Post 22 in Gereshk, Afghanistan. Milton and some of his fellow Marines prepared a hearty breakfast of SPAM and rice, along with pancakes. “You take what you can get out here,” said Milton, a Granite City, Ill. native and graduate of Granite City High School in 2007. “It’s the little things out here that count.” Milton completed one year of culinary school before he joined the Marine Corps.
