OBSERVATION POST 22, Helmand province, Afghanistan - Lance Cpl. Ash Marshall, a machine gunner with 3rd Platoon, Company L, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, takes a noodle break before going on post at Observation Post 22 in Gereshk, Afghanistan, July 20. Marshall, who hails from Austin, Texas, says the deployment has had its ups and downs but the Marines have come together as a family. “Family is important to me no matter where I’m at. This is my Marine family and they are just as important as my family back home. I would do anything for any of them like anyone back home.”
