A pair of U.S. F-15 fighters peel off from a simulated hijacked airliner during the second day of flying for Exercise Vigilant Eagle Aug. 9. The fighters escorted the airliner, a Russian Federation air force jet, after it left Russian airspace and entered U.S. airspace. F-15 Eagles and SU-27 fighters escorted the aircraft while E-3 and A-50 airborne warning and control aircraft monitored them.
