Sgt. Maj. Thomas Hall, outgoing sergeant major at MCTAG salutes Col. Christopher McCarthy during the traditional passing of the non-commissioned officer sword at the Marine Corps Training and Advisory Group's relief and appointment ceremony, Aug. 12. The passing of the sword symbolizes the transfer of responsibility, knowledge and leadership to the new sergeant major for a unit. Hall is transferring to Marine Corps Special Operations Command in Camp Lejeune, N.C., to serve as the command's senior enlisted adviser.
