The 642nd replaced 651st RSG, and will be shaping the future of Third Army/ARCENT by taking responsibility for deployment and redeployment operations in the U.S. Army Central Command area of operation. The 642nd RSG will play a vital role in Third Army/ARCENT taking the lead in the drawdown from Iraq and meeting the Presidential direction in Afghanistan.
