Petty Officer 1st Class Travis Allison of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 4 releases the pressure in the malfunctioning mud pump on the drilling rig before disassembly. The pump is necessary for pumping mud down the drill shaft to cool the drill bit, carry away cuttings and seal the well shaft. NMCB 4 is a component of the Naval Expeditionary Combat Command that provides contingency engineering and construction across Afghanistan in support of the overall mission of International Security Assistance Forces and regional combat commander requirements.
