Lance Cpl. Brandon S. Hill, an air traffic control navigation aids technician with Marine Air Control Squadron 2, hugs his 5-month-old daughter Mackenzie while his wife Casey talks to him before leaving with Marine Air Communication Squadron 2 to the Aerial Point of Embarkation to fly to Afghanistan for a seven month deployment, Aug. 11. More than 200 Marines are heading out to Afghanistan for various missions under the command of Marine Air Control Group 28. The only squadron that falls under MACG-28 here in garrison that isn’t deploying with the group is Marine Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron 2 because of their recent return from Afghanistan earlier this year. “I know I’m going to grow stronger during this deployment,” said Hill. “Not only physically and mentally in my job, but I am looking forward to growing as a Marine to better serve the Marine Corps.”
