Seaman Deandre Johnson stands the forward lookout watch during flight operations aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island. Makin Island is the flagship for Amphibious Squadron (PHIBRON) 5 and the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and is underway for PHIBRON-MEU Integrated Training in preparation for the ship’s first operational deployment.
