NEWPORT, R.I. (June 12, 2018) Bud Weeks, navigation, seamanship and ship handling director at Surface Warfare Officers School (SWOS) Command, discusses training with Secretary of the Navy Richard V. Spencer during a tour of the Conning Officer Virtual Environment trainer. Spencer visited SWOS to witness firsthand the capabilities of the school, listen to feedback from Sailors, and talk about the future of the Navy. Headquartered in Newport, Rhode Island and overseeing nine learning sites worldwide, SWOS readies sea-bound Sailors to serve on surface combatants as officers, enlisted engineers, and enlisted navigational professionals to fulfill the Navy's mission to maintain global maritime superiority.
