Senior Airman Jorge Henry, a joint terminal attack controller deployed to the 817th Expeditionary Air Support Operations Squadron, tells the story of a recent firefight during which he called in close air support to protect the Army infantry unit to which he was attached. Over the course of the nine-hour battle Aug. 12, Henry was wounded, but continued to call in air strikes. Henry, deployed from the 25th Air Support Operations Squadron, Schoefield Barracks, Hawaii, was presented a Purple Heart and an Air Force Combat Action Medal on Aug. 25, 2011, by Lt. Gen. David Goldfein, commander of U.S. Air Forces Central Command, while recuperating in Southwest Asia. (Photo by Master Sgt. Gary J. Rihn)
