The 173rd Airborne Brigade, commonly called "The Herd" pack on to US Air Force C-17s to conduct an assault. This parachute assault called "Rock Drop" is a battalion sized seizure of contested territory is a joint operation between the 2-503rd Infantry (The Rock) supported by Italian Paratroopers. The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the Contingency Response Force for US Army Europe, Africa and the Middle East, capable of deploying ready forces within 18 hours of notification.
