Clay Farrington, Historian with the Hampton Roads Naval Shipyard, presenting on June 21, 2018 to a group of employees, retirees and friends from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Farrington presented newfound research regarding the then Norfolk Navy Yard's involvement in repairing and building ships for the Royal Navy during the war; specifically the repair and refit of the HMS Illustrious in May 1941. This Royal Navy Aircraft Carrier was repaired in secrecy at the yard. He repairs were completed in December 1941, just before the US formally entered WWII.
