Columbia fire department reveals the first responders remembrance memorial here Sept. 11. This remembrance memorial honored South Carolina Midlands firefighters, law enforcement, emergency medical services, and all branches of the military that have lost their lives in the line of duty since Sept. 11, 2001. The monument features two 25-foot representations of a portion of the freedom tower, being built on the world trade site.
