180719-G-ZV557-1295 PACIFIC OCEAN (July 19, 2018) Members of the U.S. Coast Guard Tactical Delivery Team (TDT) secure the hanger deck of the guided-missile destroyer USS William P. Lawrence (DDG 110) during training operations as part of the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise, July 19. The TDT is part of the U.S. Coast Guard Maritime Security Response Team-West, which is the service's only offensively oriented counter-terrorist team and play a critical role in the Department of Homeland Security’s maritime defense strategy. Twenty-five nations, 46 ships and five submarines, about 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 27 to Aug. 2 in and around the Hawaiian Island and Southern California. The world’s largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among the participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world’s oceans.
