HAKODATE, Japan (July 14, 2018) Quartermaster Seaman Apprentice Nicholas Boupha, assigned to the mine countermeasures ship USS Chief (MCM 14) cleans an engraving dedicated to two fallen Sailors at Hakodate’s foreigners’ cemetery. The cemetery was started in 1854 when the bodies of two Sailors were buried during a U.S. Navy visit. Chief’s crew will be meeting the citizens, sightseeing, shopping, enjoying the local cuisine and cultural attractions, and learning more about the scenic and historic area of Hakodate, Japan.
