    Leonard C. Dewitt, the last remaining Distinguished Service Cross recipient from the 41 Infantry Division, prepares to board a bus after attending the grand opening of the 41 Infantry Division Armed Forces Reserve Center at Camp Withycombe in Clackamas, Ore., Sept. 17. Dewitt earned the award July 28, 1943, for voluntarily delivering ammunition to a besieged position, aiding wounded soldiers, and then holding back a larger enemy force with a machine gun and hand grenades at South Track Ridge, Salamaua, New Guinea, while serving with the 162nd Infantry Regiment.
