Sheiks from the central and southern provinces of Iraq gathered in the home of Emir Rabi’a Mohammad al-Habib al-Rabi’a (left), Prince of the Rabia’a Confederation, to discuss their role in shaping Iraq as U.S. Forces depart at year’s end, here, Sept. 22. Col. Scott Efflandt (center), commander of 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, and Lt. Col. Cameron Cantlon (right), commander of 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, encouraged the sheiks to use their influence to make Iraq a more stable and peaceful nation.
