Emir Rabi’a Mohammad al-Habib al-Rabi’a, Prince of the Rabia’a Confederation, welcomes guests to his home, here, Sept. 22. Sheiks from the central and southern provinces of Iraq gathered to discuss their role in shaping Iraq as U.S. Forces depart at year’s end. In his speech, Rabi’a stated that because of the U.S. Forces’ support, Iraq has the potential to become one of the best and richest countries in the world. The council of sheiks believe their direct connection with the Iraqi populace will allow them to strengthen Iraq if the Government of Iraq allows them to play a role in the political arena.
