A noncommissioned officer with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 36th Infantry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team guides his troops through difficult, sandy terrain during Iron Focus July 31, 2018.
Iron Focus is a one of the largest exercises conducted on Fort Bliss and surrounding areas as part of the 1st Armored Division Commander's Combat Training Center Certification program. Every echelon of the Brigade is challenged through their ability to conduct offensive, defensive and stability operations against a hybrid threat, as well as being validated on how well they plan, prepare for and execute airspace management, joint fires integration and fires de-confliction. Iron Focus provides the commanding general a realistic platform to assess the readiness of Brigades, ensuring they are fully trained and prepared to fight across multiple domains and through contested areas for future contingency operations. Training and exercises sustain readiness, while reassuring our allies and deterring potential adversaries. (Photo by Sgt 1st Class Gregory Sanders, 1st Armored Division Public Affairs)
