180816-N-ZK021-0009 NEWPORT, R.I. (Aug. 16, 2018) Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) Midshipman 1st Class Robert A. Papp of York, Maine, a student at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, virtually cons a ship at sea during the 2018 NROTC National Shiphandler of the Year competition. The three-day event at Surface Warfare Officers School uses the Naval Seamanship and Shiphandling Conning Officer Virtual Environment (COVE) simulators for virtual reality conning and ship driving scenarios.
