Alaska Army Guard Spc. Terreoo Wilson, an infantryman with A Company, 1st Battalion, 297th Infantry Regiment, assists community members with raising a Veterans Totem Pole by pulling on ropes attached to the pole during a raising ceremony in the city of Klawock on Prince of Wales Island, Aug. 18, 2018. Members of the Alaska Air and Army National Guard and Alaska State Defense Force participated in the three-day celebratory event honoring Alaska’s veterans. The service members visited with local community members, took part in the traditional song and dance, and provided a color guard, two HMMWVs and participants to help carry the 37-foot totem pole to its resting place in the newly constructed Veterans Totem Park against the shoreline of the Klawock Inlet.
