U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Aug. 27, 2018) Army Capt. Joe Grant, assigned to Civil Affairs Team 8315 and attached to Combat Task Group 56.4, climbs a caving ladder during joint maritime security operations training aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Jason Dunham (DDG 109). Dunham is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the central region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
