Retired Maj. Gen. Thomas Braaten and retired Capt. Jim Dargan talk in front of the Marine for Life booth at the Military Retiree Appreciation Day event at Miller's Landing on Marine Corps air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Oct. 1. Both are active retired Marines in their community. Braaten is the director of Craven County Regional Airport while Dargan volunteers his time locally and supports the Catholic services at the station chapel. Braaten said that they may be too old to pick up a weapon and fight, but they still do contribute to society.
