A member of the Navy sideboys team posts as he awaits for the departure of U.S. Air Force Gen. Darren W. McDew, former commander of the U.S. Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, Aug. 24, 2018. This Navy tradition is used to honor superior officers in ceremonies and was historically used to help dignitaries aboard and off ships during a visit. The ceremony marked the end of McDew's highly-decorated, 36-year military career, which encompassed 19 assignments, 3,600 hours of flying hours on 10 different aircraft, and three consecutive commands at Scott AFB, which included the 18th Air Force, Air Mobility Command, and USTRANSCOM.
