Marine Maj. Gen. James Bierman, the commanding general of the Marine Corps Recruiting Command, addresses attendees at a community leaders reception at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art during the United States Marine Corps’ 2018 Marine Week in Charlotte, North Carolina, Sept. 4, 2018. Marine Week is a celebration of community, country and Corps, which provided the American public the experience of directly connecting with approximately 750 Marines. Marine Week is the premier community engagement event that each year allows the Marine Corps to connect with citizens of great American cities, generating awareness and maintaining mutual understanding and support between the Corps and those it serves.(Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl.
