U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Kevin Hackman and other Marines observe a performance of a haka by New Zealand soldiers during a barbecue aboard Camp Linton, New Zealand on Sept. 5, 2018. Hackman, a native of Powhatan, Virginia, is a forward observer with 1st Brigade, 5th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, III Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group. The haka is an ancient Maori war dance displaying the strength, pride, and unity of the home tribe. It has been used to not only intimidate enemies on the battlefield but also to bring groups together in peace. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Harrison Rakhshani)
