A Texas Guardsmen from El Paso-based 3rd Battalion, 133rd Field Artillery Regiment, deployed to the Presidio Border Patrol station drips sweats in the triple digit heat as he finishes replacing the brakes on a CBP trailer. Pfc. Andres Lopez tightens the last lug nut on the wheel, bringing the trailer back to mission ready. “…my civilian job I do asset protection for ‘Best Buy,’ keep a lookout for any thefts, here, I am a mechanic… but I learned from my three uncles how to do basic auto mechanics. I like the work, it’s hot, but the work is measurable,” said Lopez. The Texas Guard’s mission is to get more badges back to the border and assisting with keeping their vehicles, ATVs and ranges mission ready, May 2018.
