The U.S. Ambassador to Poland Georgette Mosbacher receives a coin from Lt. Col. William Christenson, commander of the 191st Combat Service Support Battalion, in Powidz, Poland, September 12, 2018. The new ambassador was informed on the plans for new development on the airfield and the purpose of U.S. forces placement in the region.
U.S. and NATO military planners determined that the U.S. could best complement and reinforce NATO’s current posture in Europe by stationing its enhanced Forward Presence battle group in Poland. This new posture is designed to enhance the security of all NATO allies and improve deterrence in the eastern part of the alliance. (U.S. Army photo by: Staff Sgt. Michael Eaddy)
