Sacramento, Calif., native Seaman Rodolfo Carretero, a corpsman with 1st Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, is originally from Manila in the Philippines. He said he most misses his mother, who still lives there, and the Philippine food of his childhood. The 23-year-old sailor said he is most proud of earning his Fleet Marine Force pin while deployed, an achievement that took him many hours of study and preparation, and he enjoys being a corpsman because he enjoys helping others and his Marines can depend on him.
