MAYPORT, Fla. (Sept. 14, 2018) Command Master Chief Ervin H. Byrd III, command master chief aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), pins Capt. Joseph R. O'brien, the ship's commanding officer, as an honorary chief petty officer during the ship’s fiscal year 2019 chief petty officer pinning ceremony at the Ocean Breeze Conference Center onboard Naval Station Mayport. During the ceremony, 19 Iwo Jima Sailors received their chief anchors and covers as they were promoted to the rank of chief petty officer.
