ATLANTIC OCEAN (Sept. 14, 2018) Aerographer's mate 3rd Class Salaik Reaves (left) receives sea surface temperatures with a thermometer gun and Aerographer's Mate Airman Madelyn Laughlin measures wind speeds with a handheld anemometer on the flight deck aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command ordered all U.S. Navy ships in the Hampton Roads area to sortie on Sept. 10, ahead of Hurricane Florence. There are nearly 30 ships underway from Naval Station Norfolk and Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek as Hurricane Florence brings high winds and rain to the Mid-Atlantic coast. Ships have been directed to areas of the Atlantic where they are best postured for storm avoidance. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 3rd Class Garrett LaBarge/Released)
