NOSC Phoenix Celebrates the Navy's 243rd Birthday

Commander Justin Collins, Commanding Officer of Naval Operational Support Center Phoenix, assists U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps Recruit Moreland cut a cake with a cutlass in celebration of the Navy’s 243rd birthday. In keeping with military tradition of past and present, the youngest and oldest members participate in the ceremonial cutting of the cake. Recruit Moreland was the youngest member in attendance while Master Chief Navy Equipmentman William W. Warren was the oldest. The U.S. Navy traces its origins to the Continental Navy, established during the War of Independence by the Continental Congress on October 13, 1775.
