DAHLGREN, Va. (Oct. 12, 2018) - Cmdr. Steven Perchalski, right, and Lt. Adam Mattison examine a World War I bombsight - used to conduct testing at the Dahlgren Naval Proving Ground in the 1920s and 1930s - during a celebration of the Navy's 243rd birthday held at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). The aircraft course-setting bombsight is one of the few surviving examples of the many bombsights tested at Dahlgren. NSWCDD will celebrate 100 years of cutting-edge technological innovation in support of the warfighter at a centennial grand finale event Oct. 19 that includes an exhibition tent, a U.S. Navy Band performance, and historic tours featuring six station stops on base.
